Formed in the fall of 2004,
the Galileo Quartet, which consists of Lenny Price (saxophones), Dan
Taylor (keyboards), Greg Lyman (bass), and Marshall Bilodeau (drums),
recorded eight of the nine tracks on their CD during an energetic live
performance at the Starlight Lounge in late May. A lush arrangement of
"Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is including on the disc as a bonus studio
track. According to Chris Bruya, who serves as director of jazz studies at
Central Washington University and wrote the CD liner notes, "Galileo
personalizes their renditions with variation and conception that expand
the tradition of small group jazz performance."
Primarily known as one of Central Washington's most sophisticated
destinations for dining and nightlife, the Starlight Lounge is developing
a reputation as a great venue for live music. Owner Doris Morgan and her
staff offer patrons fabulous cocktails, tasty appetizers, and a cozy
atmosphere. Executive Chef Lyle Whitacre creates his bistro and high-end
comfort food menu with the fresh items of any given season. The wine list,
which features an overwhelming majority of Washington State vintages, can
be enjoyed by the glass or bottle. Travelers are strongly encouraged to
take Exit 109 off I-90 and treat themselves to the wonderful experience
that awaits.
