WORK IN PROGRESS

Proposal for a two-year jazz artist residency based in Central Washington State (Kittitas, Yakima, and Grant counties)

 

Planning, production, and release of solo contemporary jazz compact disc surveying the development of American jazz and exploring parallels with African-American popular music in the 20th century based on extensive research and transcription. Key secondary goals of the project include:

Planning, production, and release of companion digital video disc (DVD, HD-DVD, or other format) documenting the creation process;

bullet

Professional apprentice opportunities for Central Washington University, Yakima Valley Community College, and Ellensburg High School students in disciplines including, but not limited to, project management and funding, instrumental and vocal music performance, music composition & arranging, music and video production, music research, art direction, illustration and photography, computer and information technology, audio and video postproduction, marketing and publicity;

Subsequent development of papers, lectures, and presentations on a wide variety of topics related to the project;

bullet

Securing the musical contributions of established artists with verbal commitments already from Allan Molnar, Earl Klugh, Jeff Cox, Memo Acevedo, Nelson Rangell, and Randy Scott

bullet

Donating a portion of the proceeds to the scholarship funds of Central Washington University and Yakima Valley Community College; Breast Cancer Research.
